Starfire's ranking system was designed to solve a fundamental problem with competitive gaming recognition: a player can have 100 tournament wins in informal settings with no verifiable record. A Starfire rank is different — every point in it comes from verified, governed competition.
Rank Points
Every Starfire competition awards rank points based on: tournament tier (Open, Standard, Premier, Invitational), final placement, and opponent quality (determined by average opponent rank in the bracket). Beating a higher-ranked bracket earns more points than winning a bracket of beginners. This prevents "farming" easy tournaments to inflate ranking.
Tournament Tiers
**Open**: Free entry, no rank gate. Any player can participate. Rank points awarded are modest but accessible.
**Standard**: Light rank gate (minimum verified account, previous competition history). Moderate rank points.
**Premier**: Invitation or qualification required. Significant rank points.
**Invitational**: Admin-selected participants from top-ranked players per game. Maximum rank point value.
Badges
Badges appear on your profile and provide public proof of competitive achievements. Current badge types: Champion (won a Standard+ bracket), Finalist (podium finish), Top Fragger (highest kill count in a BR tournament series), MVP (voted by opponents in team competitions), and Platform Veteran (completed 10+ tournaments). Future badge categories are added with each Starfire season.
Season Standings
Each Starfire season runs approximately 3 months. End-of-season standings are locked permanently in your profile history — they can't be modified retroactively. Top season finishers in each game receive Invitational seeding for the following season's premier events. Your competitive career on Starfire is cumulative — each season builds your verifiable competitive identity.
