BGMI Complete Beginner's Guide: From Drop to Chicken Dinner

Everything a new BGMI player needs to know โ€” landing zones, loot priority, zone rotation, and squad communication fundamentals.

1.Understanding the Map

BGMI's signature map Erangel is an 8x8 km island with diverse terrain โ€” fields, military compounds, towns, and shoreline. High-traffic areas like Pochinok, Georgopol, and Military Base offer the best loot but attract the most early fights. For beginners, landing in mid-tier zones like Primorsk or Sosnovka gives you better loot-to-risk ratios while you build game sense. Study the plane route before dropping โ€” it determines where 80% of the lobby will land.

2.Loot Priority Order

Not all loot is equal. Prioritize in this order: (1) Weapon โ€” grab any gun immediately. (2) Ammo โ€” 200+ rounds for rifle, 60+ for shotgun. (3) Helmet โ€” Level 2 helmet stops M416 headshots. (4) Vest โ€” Level 3 vest at all costs. (5) Backpack โ€” Level 3 gives you enough space for healing and grenades. (6) Healing items โ€” medkits, bandages, energy drinks. (7) Grenades โ€” frags are underrated finishers. Never spend more than 90 seconds in a building looting โ€” move constantly.

3.Zone Management

The blue zone deals increasing damage per tier. In the first 3 zones, you have plenty of time to rotate. From zone 4 onwards, treat the white circle boundary as your deadline โ€” start rotating before the zone closes, not when it's already on you. Drive vehicles for early-mid rotations, but ditch them and go on foot within 500m of the final circles to avoid revealing your position. Always know the next zone location and plan a route.

4.Gunfight Basics

BGMI punishes players who peek without purpose. Before engaging: identify the enemy count, assess your cover, and estimate distance. At range, single-tap for accuracy. In close quarters, full-auto with drag compensation. The M416 is the most forgiving rifle for beginners โ€” its recoil is manageable. Pair it with a shotgun (S686 or S12K) for close-range pressure. Crouch while shooting from covers โ€” it makes your head smaller and changes your recoil pattern predictably.

5.Squad Communication

Mark everything. Mark your landing zone before the drop. Mark enemies immediately when spotted. Use 8-direction clock positions: "Enemy north" or "Enemy building at 2 o'clock." Communicate your healing status: "I'm healing, don't push." Call knockdowns immediately: "[Name] is down, I need revive." Good communication doubles your squad's effectiveness without any mechanical skill improvement. Start simple โ€” even "here" and "danger" typed in chat is better than silence.
